Founded by Dr. Vanessa Harden, designer, artist, and researcher, Wild Flag Studios brings a research-driven approach to the built environment. Harden’s work explores urban plant connectivity through mycorrhizal networks and the development of the Soil Conduit—a novel form of green infrastructure designed to reconnect fragmented urban soils and support below-ground fungal communities. The ecological branch is advised by Dr. Estefanía Fernández, an ecologist whose expertise informs the studio’s research-led approach to ecological systems and urban environments. Together, the studio’s cultural and ecological practices reflect a shared ambition: to design environments that are not only visually and experientially compelling, but also capable of supporting resilient living systems over time.
